On 26 April 2022, Bettina Jarasch opens the first Berlin Climate Citizens Council kick-off event. 100 Berliners are randomly drawn to discuss climate issues in the areas of mobility, housing and energy. On the 30th of June 2022, the jointly developed recommendations for action are handed over to the Berlin Senate Department for Environment, Mobility, Consumer and Climate Protection. The climate crisis is becoming more and more noticeable every year and Berlin must become climate neutral as quickly as possible to set an example for Germany and the rest of the world. Thanks to this initiative created by Klimaneustart, citizens finally get more opportunities to actively participate in decision-making on climate-related topics.
